Christmas String Lights on C&C cages????

I have seen pictures of some people's C%26amp;C cages that had christmas lights on them, i purchased some because i thought it looked pretty neat, but i am afraid to put them on because i think the Guinea Pigs might chew on the cords and get well.... you know, and i definately dont want that to happen, they would be at the very top of the cage but i am still apprehensive, can anyone who has put Christmas lights on their C%26amp;C cage tell me if their Guinea Pigs Have attempted to chew on them??, the cage wall is 14 inches high if that helps, do you think they could still reach the cords?

I'd put them on and watch them to see if they care to taste test it. if they do tap their nose, if they keep trying repeat. Mine learned that that means not to do it anymore, and I give her praise.
Reply:There are tube lights, that could be used. I've never used them, so I'm not sure how to safely attatch them.

Y'know, your best bet on a good answer is to ask this question on the Guineapigcages forum. You can even PM the people with the lights on the cage and ask.
Reply:yeah, I say no lights.

I don't even put lights up in my room (where my kitten spends the majority of his time) because the led lights are bad for his eyes, and all animals are curious and would want to chew on them, and well you know the consequences to that.

happy chrismahannukwanzika.
Reply:i too say no to lights. maybe you can find out if your guinea pig is prone to seizures, with all that commotion going on. save the christmas holidays for who it was intended for. people.
Reply:even if the lights wouldn't hurt her eyes, christmas light wires contain lead, so I'd say no go on the cage lights.
Reply:My Guinea pig climbs on the bars of her cage so she will reach them if i put them on pulse they hurt there eyes with the constant light surrounding them

(good luck and leave the lights off the cage =]
Reply:I think whoever put lights on their pets cage must have been crazy. Thats like saying if you put yourself on fire you won't burn. I'm totally against putting any kind of wiring on any of my rabbit's cage, heck even some dogs + cats chew on wiring. Why not get a small xmas tree + put it near (but not too close) to your g.pigs cage. Or find a g.pic xmas decorated treat ? How about making an xmas treat tree for it yourself ? Wiring around any animal that loves to chew would definitely be a hazard.
